This is a less common frog, although apparently it can be locally common. It inhabits wet areas at lower elevations in south-east Australia (NSW and Vic). It preys upon other frogs, but most frogs can be cannibalistic too.

I encountered this frog in the middle of the day at the edge of a pristine, secluded lake in east Gippsland. Because of a lack of vegetation it was unable to hide and, getting my feet wet, I was able to snap some reasonable photos.
