These are tiny damselflies, widespread throughout Australia. They can best be seen around reedy ponds and stagnant ponds. In Victoria they fly from spring through summer and autumn.

Mature males are brightly colored, with green eyes, head and thorax (with some black markings). Most of the tail is orange with the end being black with a blue ring. Females are pale with some green. The third image above shows a male guarding a teneral female.
