Despite their name, one of the best places for fauna are botanic gardens,
the Royal Botanic Gardens, Cranbourne being no exception.
While sitting at a park bench eating lunch there were a few mosquitos pestering us.
Along comes this platoon of Superb Fairy-wren to the rescue.
They hopped around under the table and flew against our legs picking of the annoying little insects.
The male (pictured) was even brave enough to venture onto the table top and pick up some crumbs.
After they moved off we decided to save a few mosquitos for their return and
I was lucky enough to capture this guy being tempted by our offerings - it
is actually surprising how quickly he picked up all the mozzies.
This photo also shows off his dark-blue throat feathers,
however with slightly overexposed light-blue head, cheek and shoulder as a consequence.
