South Gippsland Day 2

16 February 2008

For Saturday I had thought I'd visit some places in Wilsons Promontory, possibly camping at Tidal River for the night. At the gate however they had a scrolling sign saying the camp ground was booked out, which I thought was pretty amazing considering it wasn't school holidays and there are 400 spaces. Why is everyone there when I wanted to be there!

Anyway, first stop was Cotters Lake for dragonflies but as it turned out there were only a few flying around and the lake itself was dry. After that I wanted to go on a walk from Telegraph Saddle Carpark but they had closed the road for unknown reasons so I decided to try Lilly Pilly Gully Circuit instead. This was quite a nice walk and I at least saw a few (of the same species) of dragonflies and a snake.

Not being able to stay (nor wanting to because of the number of people around) I returned to Turtons Creek and hoped there wouldn't be many people there (and luckily there weren't many).

On dusk I was very pleased to observe a platypus until it got too dark to see.
