Gippsland Day 1 - Getting There
27 January 2008
First day of my enjoyable trip to east Gippsland, most of this was spent just getting there.

to see a map of how I got there.
On my way to the first destination I stopped off at the Avon River (at Stratford)
and the Butchers Creek bridge along the Gelantipy Road, both times looking for dragonflies.
First real destination for the trip was Native Dog Flat in the Alpine National.
Earlier in the month the orchid group
spent a weekend at this camp ground but unfortunately I couldn't make it then.
I eventually got there around 7pm after hoping my last turn-off on an un-signposted road was a correct one.
After a snack I wandered around in the dwindling light to see some orchids and insect activity.
This included many large, black insects I believe to be a species of cicada.
These came out and chatted amongst themselves all night.
