I visited the Yarra at Wonga Park, same as two weeks ago.
Last time it was to look for Common Shutwing, Cordulephya pygmaea.
I saw lots of these small dragonflies again, one even landing on my leg.
This time I was looking specifically for Gold-fronted River Damsels, Pseudagrion aureofrons.
I saw only about 3 last time and on the way upstream in the morning I saw very little.
Luckily at the last stop-off on the way back downstream I saw quite a few zipping around on the far side of the Yarra River.
This damselfly isn't a particularly easy one to photograph.
They fly swiftly, very close to the surface above deep, calm pools.
Since I'm not prepared to wade much deeper than my knees I waited amongst the reeds for them to land.
I managed to photograph one or two animals this way but they were very flighty, taking off before I got really close.
Only one photo of my target species for the day is posted below.
